Off-Grid Installations
← back to our products

An off-grid system involves up to 5 components:

  1. Solar Panels
2 panels or more to generate electricity to charge batteries and provide power.  Panels can be added anytime.

  2. Charge Controller
MPPT charge controllers manage the power to the batteries, wattage limit per charge controller is determined by multiplying the battery voltage by the controller amperage.  More than one charge controller can be on the same system

  3. Inverter
Inverters are sized by wattage and voltage (120 or 240).  Signals are cleaner now with Sine Wave inverters which protect electronic devices.  New inverters can be stacked to increase capacity at a later date.

  4. Batteries
Lead Acid are the cheapest, Absorb Glass Matt are a sealed battery in the mid-range cost and Gel Batteries are a sealed battery at the high end cost range.  Batteries are arranged in series and parallel in order to give you the power storage you require.  Battery voltages are normally 12 volt, 24 volt or 48 volt.

  5. Generator
Generators can be connected in order to charge the batteries and provide power to your electrical items when required.  The more you rely on a generator the smaller (and cheaper) the off-grid solar system can be.  A generator can be a gas, diesel, propane, or natural gas generator or even the grid power if possible or necessary.

If you are interested in an off-grid installation you can consider the following packages or have a custom system created.  What we need is a list of the devices you wish to provide power to, the wattage they would use and the estimated number of hours it would be on in an average day.  Lastly we would need to know what months you would require the system to be operational.  It is cost prohibitive to attempt to run anything that generates heat (electric heater) and special attention needs to be paid to any motors.  Smaller appliances like hair dryers and kettles are able to be used.

Our Guarantee

Many companies will offer guarantees of 50, 100, even 200 years – companies that have only been in business for a handful of years. Does this make any sense?

Our guarantee is simple and honest:
Solar is the most practical, lowest-impact form of alternative energy and with your 20-year Hydro contract, you will start making money right away. Guaranteed.
